Graphic Designer/Technician

The Graphic Designer/Technician program is a two-year higher vocational education program. In the program, you will develop in a creative study environment with access to the latest technical solutions. Considerable focus is placed on being able to create, as well as being able to professionally produce what you have created. The program is therefore well suited to those who are interested in graphic design, but at the same time want to be able to master the latest in graphic software, machinery and flows.

Program structure

The program consists of practical and theoretical training, where the emphasis is on practical problem solving. During the program, you work with actual assignments from various companies and organizations. The objective is to prepare the student for the industry’s requirements. With skilled teachers and broad industry contacts, a creative study environment and good future prospects are created.

Program content

You learn typography, layout, communication, target-group analysis, brand analysis and brand strategy. You also receive extensive knowledge in the production technology elements, the most commonly occurring software packages in the graphics industry and how you use them professionally for production. The software mainly involves areas such as illustration, image processing, retouching, typography and layout, file management, administration, color management, automation of graphic work flows, finishing for printing, studio photography, 3D modeling and visualization.

Praktik - Lärande i arbete

In a HVE program, a large part of the education comprises
practical placement, also known as on-the-job training (OJT). Here, you have the chance to test your knowledge in real working life. The business contacts you make during your placement sessions often lead to work directly after the program. You can do your placement either in Sweden or abroad. Once you have completed your period of study with passing grades in all courses, you receive a Diploma in Higher Vocational Education. If you do not have enough credits for a full degree, you receive a course certificate.

After completed training

After the program, you will have the skills to be able to work at a production agency, design agency, advertising agency or a reprographics firm where the work role includes graphic design and reproduction. Examples of professional roles that the program leads to are graphic designer, repro technician, AD assistant, originator and repro operator.

Higher Vocational College

Higher vocational education is a form of post-secondary education that combines theory with strong vocationally related practical elements. On the job training makes up one third of the studies. The program lead to vocational skills relevant to the graphics industry, which means that the student can quickly enter working life.
