Packaging Designer
As a prospective packaging designer, you will develop in a creative study environment with access to the latest technical solutions in the packaging industry. The school’s unique profile, comprehensive view and understanding of the entire production flow ”from concept sketch to finished packaging” constitutes skills in demand in the industry. This broad base gives you endless possibilities.
Packaging design includes working with the creative graphic design, the packaging’s form and function. The term also includes knowledge of logistics, store exposure and more. The program gives you skills that cover the knowledge gaps between design, construction, repro, printing and post-processing.
Program structure
Packaging Design is a two-year higher vocational education with a focus on design, form and function. The program develops and challenges your creative ability. Theory and practice provide knowledge and understanding of the whole in packaging design. Constructive feedback combined with personal interaction leads to individual development. The studies consist of practical and theoretical training, where the emphasis is on practical problem solving. During the program, the students work with actual assignments from various companies and organizations to create as realistic a working environment as possible. The objective is to prepare the student for the industry’s requirements.

In a HVE program, a large part of the education comprises
practical placement, also known as on-the-job training (OJT). Here, you have the chance to test your knowledge in real working life. The business contacts you make during your placement sessions often lead to work directly after the program.
You can do your placement either in Sweden or abroad. Brobygrafiska has a large national and international network with leading companies in the industry. Some examples of companies where our students have done their placement are:
Degree
Once you have completed your period of study with passing grades in all courses, you receive a Diploma in Higher Vocational Education. If you do not have enough credits for a full degree, you receive a course certificate.
After completed training
After the program, you can work as a graphic designer, packaging designer, packaging constructor, packaging developer and packaging coordinator. Examples of workplace are advertising agencies, design agencies, design firms, converters, packaging material manufacturers or brand owners.
Higher Vocational College
Higher vocational education is a form of post-secondary education that combines theory with strong vocationally related practical elements. On the job training makes up one third of the studies. The program lead to vocational skills relevant to the graphics industry, which means that the student can quickly enter working life.
